Using the Stepping
Stone Route’ across
the North Atlantic
with stops on the
Aran Islands, in
Donegal, the Hebrides
and in Iceland,
Severin and his crew
proved that it was
possible for St.
Brendan to have
made the voyage to
America in such a
craft.
When the hull was
punctured by sharp
ice, two crew
members – one inside
and one hanging over the side of the
boat into the freezing water were able to
sew a leather patch over the damaged
area.
We enjoy the nice wooded walk on a
moss covered stone lined path. The
woods look just right for a leprechaun to
be living in a hollow tree stump but
sadly we don’t see any of the wee folk
about.
