Immigration Law Compliance
In compliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, each new employee, as a
condition of employment, must complete the Employment Eligibility Verification Form I-9 and
present documentation establishing identity and employment eligibility within three business
days of the date employment begins.
Employment Categories
It is the intent of the National Wildlife Federation to clarify the definitions of employment
categories so that you understand your employment status and benefit eligibility. These
classifications do not guarantee employment for any specified period of time. Accordingly, the
right to terminate the employment relationship at will at any time is retained by both you and
the organization.
In special situations, you may be offered the opportunity to perform duties outside the scope
of your regular employment and the National Wildlife Federation reserves the right to
establish separate compensation and overtime arrangements for these positions in
accordance with applicable state and federal laws.
Exempt or Nonexempt
Each employee is designated as either NONEXEMPT or EXEMPT from federal and state wage
and hour laws. NONEXEMPT employees are entitled to overtime pay. These individuals are
restricted from holding two organizational positions at the same time on our payroll. EXEMPT
employees are excluded or "exempt" from specific provisions of federal and state wage and
hour laws. An employee's EXEMPT or NONEXEMPT classification may be changed only upon
written notification by the Human Resources department.
Regular Full-Time
These employees are not in a temporary status and are regularly scheduled to work a full-time
schedule of 80 hours within a two week period. Generally, they are eligible for our Employee
Benefits program, subject to the terms, conditions, and limitations of each benefit plan.
Regular Part-Time
These employees are not assigned to a temporary status and are regularly scheduled to work
less than the full-time work schedule, but at least 20 hours per week. These employees are
eligible for our Employee Benefits program, subject to the terms, conditions, and limitations
of each benefit plan.
