David was warm and gentle with a great sense of humour. His
Christian faith was very important to him and he was a regular at
most church activities. David belonged to many clubs in Wareham
when he retired, including Grapevine, Lytchett Group, (run by Betty
Williams), a particular favourite, and the Sunshine Club, where he
enjoyed going on holiday with them as far as Austria! He always
went along to tea and garden parties run by the Lions or Rotary,
earning himself the nickname of “The Tea and Bun Man”. He was
always generous in providing transport for others.
David had knowledge of a wide variety of subjects and loved
watching sport on the television, including football, rugby and
tennis. He lived a simple life and was reluctant to buy anything new
saying, 'it will see me
out'. However, when
he moved from his
house in Ridge to
sheltered
accommodation at
Hillyard Court, he was
persuaded to buy a
new television to
watch his beloved
sports. His appetite
for food was
legendary, but his
favourites were simple
meals like fish and
chips and pie and
chips.
He touched the hearts
of many in his long
and fruitful life and will
be much missed by
his family and friends.
He is now united with
the God who he
loved.
