The revised interior ditches dated, dark, and glossy
wood trim and the myriad of buttons for light,
matte wood panels and a large touchscreen with an
intuitive and easily navigable interface. Outward
visibility is fantastic.

Now in its 7th evolution, the styling is unmistakably
that of a 3 Series—albeit one with additional length,
girth, and in keeping with the current BMW family
motif—an enlarged kidney grill. For the first time
however, nothing about the sleek and elegant design
screams entry level or “baby BMW.” The 2020 330i
would look equally at home in the valet line at The
Capital Grille as it would at a hole-in-the-wall cafe.

With Sport mode engaged, the exhaust becomes
louder and more aggressive, and the stiffened
suspension makes the car slightly more eager to
dive into a turn. However, with as great as the 2020
3 Series is in its default state, most will find the
included Sport mode somewhat unnecessary as the
latest from BMW is undoubtedly at its best without
the added drama.

BMW has produced a comfortable, sporty sedan
which even the crankiest of enthusiasts should enjoy
in its standard settings—which is perhaps the best
tribute possible to the original 3 Series ethos. And
even though it will remain the most popular of the
brand’s models, this new generation is the first to
be no less desirable than any of the more exotic or
expensive offerings.
