he has a great partner called XL Music, and he is running some workshops at the shop
often and it's great.
BiTS: That's wonderful. Absolutely terrific. Tell me a little bit more about the album.
Is it just duets or is there a whole band with you as well?
RP: In studio, Philippe is making all the music producing. He does also a lot of
composition work and writing work. He makes arrangements also with me for a part
of them, but he is making the biggest part of the work. For the studio, he is making
everything by himself, all the guitars and all the music production, and sometimes,
he calls friends to make some studio sessions, with a real studio because Philippe’s
studio is not so big, so we can't do everything there. We can record some things, but
if we want to play together, live in the
studio, we need to rent something.
BiTS: Yes, right. So tell me, are you still
doing any judo at all, Rachelle?
RP: [Chuckles] No, I stopped judo in
2010 after the World Championship
where I finished second, and it was
amazing because the multiple Olympic Judoka Clarisse Agbégnénou
medals. But I have a friend who has been
an Olympic winner several times , in judo in France, maybe you know her in England?,
Her name is Clarisse Agbégnénou. She came to see us for our big release concert last
Sunday. It was a great honour to have her and the some great memories too because
we were together in the French team 15 years ago.
BiTS: That's absolutely wonderful. You were hugely successful as a judo expert.
RP: Thank you so much [chuckles].
BiTS: Do you do anything to keep fit now? It’s hard work playing harmonica.
RP: Yeah, it’s hard work playing harmonica. Philippe works very hard on his
harmonica [laughing]. I have played harmonica for 27 years and Philippe has played
guitar for more than that. I don't know, many years. It's much more than me.
BiTS: Tell me something, this is very personal. Are you and Philippe what we would
call ‘a couple’ in this country?
RP: Yes. In our country we say that we are a couple on stage and in town.
BiTS: That is absolutely wonderful. Congratulations anyway, that’s absolutely superb.
I love that.
RP: Thank you so much.
PH: Thank you. Thank you so much, Ian.
