BiTS: Right. Tell me something about your plans for marketing the album. Clearly
you won't be able to gig it. So how are you going to go about it?
PL: Well, it's just been released. We've already sold far more than any other album
we made in advance to it coming out. We will be taking it with us with my new band
because we'll be playing some of the songs. We'll be playing songs from Catfish that
I wrote, including ‘Don't Turn Around’ and ‘Broken Halo’ which are the two big songs
for me on the album. So we will have it with us.
BiTS: ‘Broken Halo’ is an absolute cracker, incidentally.
PL: Thank you. It's unusual for me to write an up-tempo rocky song like that. That
was really Matt’s territory.
BiTS: It's a seriously rocky song. Actually when I was listening to the album, I was
quite surprised at how rocky it is
[chuckles].
Chloe Josephine
PL: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So that song, we will
continue to play and ‘Don't Turn Around’,
which is the long sort of slightly
progressive blues one.
BiTS: Absolutely wonderful.
PL: Thank you. Chloe did some amazing
backing vocals on both those two songs
and she'd left Brave Rival when she did
that. She came round here to my studio,
and we spent two days.
BiTS: How did the support musicians, the
other people who were in the band, how
did they do their bits?
PL: Well, Alex Voysey came to my studio
here to play some extra guitar parts, and
Chloe Josephine, formerly of Brave Rival,
she came here as well, and we spent two
days doing the four songs that she sings
on. The songs that Matt had done on his
computer and the song which I wrote based around his guitar solo, we spent a couple
of days in the studio in Lincolnshire with Phil Wilson, who was the drummer for
Catfish in its final tour, and Ash Wilson as well and Adam and I. We played live in the
studio to Matt’s vocal and guitar. We played along live to it.
BiTS: Wonderful. Wonderful. Now tell me something about the new band. I gather
that’s started already. Are you getting many gigs?
