Soror Fatina Gaston - the sister with almost 78 Years of membership in
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. She holds the record for the
longest membership in the Sorority among all Sorors currently in the local
chapter. Soror Gaston was initiated into Delta on April 30, 1947, via the
Gamma Lambda Chapter at Johnson C. Smith University, Charlotte,
                                                North Carolina.

She worked diligently with her Sorors on campus to execute Delta
programs. While enrolled there, she was crowned Miss JCSU. Soror
Gaston did not return to Rocky Mount after college but chose instead
to go to the state of New York, where she built her career with the
Department of Social Services in New York City until her retirement.
Upon returning to her hometown of Rocky Mount, she connected
with the Rocky Mount Alumnae Chapter and immersed herself in
service. She served as a dedicated member, holding key leadership

Committee and Chair of the Social Action Committee. As Mental
Health Chair, she represented the Chapter on the Rocky Mount
Mental Health Board and led the charge in supporting the Unity
Cemetery Cleanup through her work in Social Action.

Today, Soror Gaston enjoys spending time as she wishes with

special occasions and attending reunions. Every five years, she
travels to Charlotte to reconnect with her JCSU classmates.
