Greetings!

It is my distinct pleasure and with great excitement that I welcome you
to the 43rd Jabberwock Scholarship Program. Tonight, we gather to
celebrate the remarkable achievements and aspirations of 15 beautiful
young ladies vying for the title of Miss Jabberwock 2025. This year,
our theme is “HERSTORY: Making a WORLD of Difference,” which
signifies the powerful impact that each participant can have on her
community and beyond.

The Jabberwock tradition, which originated in 1925 with the Iota Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority,
Inc. in Boston, Massachusetts, has evolved into a significant event that not only entertains but also
empowers our youth. Drawing inspiration from Lewis Carroll’s whimsical character, the Jabberwock,
we embrace the idea of diverse talents and attributes coming together to create a magnificent whole.
Each participant represents a unique blend of grace, intelligence, and ambition, embodying the spirit of
community and scholarship.

The Rocky Mount Alumnae Chapter is proud to host this biennial event, which plays a vital role in
financing its scholarship program through the Delta Center for Life Development (DCLD). This initiative
provides high school juniors and seniors with a platform to raise funds for their educational pursuits while
competing for the esteemed title of Miss Jabberwock. Our goal is to uplift and support these young women
as they strive for academic excellence and personal growth.

I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the parents, guardians, advisors, sponsors, family members,
and Rocky Mount Alumnae Chapter members for their unwavering support during this 43rd Jabberwock
Scholarship Program. Your involvement and encouragement have been instrumental in creating a
meaningful experience for these young ladies.
As we celebrate tonight, let us remember that Jabberwock is more than just an event; it is a tradition rooted
in empowerment, competition, pageantry, excitement, entertainment and community support. Each donation
made and each moment shared contribute to the future of these bright young women and the educational
opportunities they seek.

Thank you for joining us in this celebration of talent, determination, and aspiration. Together, we can
continue to inspire these young scholars to harness their unique narratives and make lasting impacts in their
