10. Medicaid/ Medicare Compliance
CCS is committed to its role in preventing healthcare fraud and abuse and complying with applicable state and
federal law related to healthcare fraud and abuse. In accordance with CCS’ Medicaid/ Medicare Compliance Plan,
all occurrences of possible fraud and abuse or other compliance issues related to Medicaid must be reported. CCS
encourages individuals to contact the Compliance Officer either formally or informally. Calls may also be made
anonymously, although CCS encourages contractors to provide their name and contact information to aid in the
effective investigation of reports. Every attempt will be made to preserve the confidentiality of reports of non-
compliance. All contractors must understand, however, that circumstances may arise in which it is necessary or
appropriate to disclose information. In such cases, disclosures will be on a “need to know” basis only.
11. Safety, Health, and Welfare
The health, safety and well-being of individuals supported by CCS is the highest priority. To protect the safety,
health, and welfare of the individuals we will be serving, CCS will take the stance that the involvement of the case
manager in the individual’s life is paramount in all aspects. All individuals supported by CCS will be free from
abuse, exploitation, retaliation, humiliation, and neglect. It is our practice that the case manager will work
alongside the individual and other significant supports to ensure ongoing advocacy and assessment of needs be
completed to help alleviate any potential at risk or crisis situations.
Monthly, during regular contact, the case manager and the individual and/or significant supports will review
any medical issues such as medications, nutritional and/or physical management care of the individual. CCS
will ensure all case manager s are trained and educated in the issues of nutritional, physical management,
seizure, and medication offered by the Area Office.
All CCS case manager s are trained in the following:
Risk Management and Incident Reporting at new contractor orientation and assessed annually.
Reporting requirements, which includes reporting, emerging concerns, as well as actual incidents.
Reporting incidents or unusual occurrences and monitoring incidents to identify if improvements are
needed.
Recognize and report abuse, exploitation, retaliation, humiliation, and neglect.
Awareness of fire safety requirements and report any concerns observed regarding alarm
systems, fire extinguishers, emergency food supply, and evacuation and emergency notification
procedures.
11.1 Emergency Preparedness
Should an emergency arise that necessitates response, all CCS Staff should follow the Emergency Preparedness plan
for the applicable situation. All contractors will be familiar and comply with CCS Policy regarding Emergency Disaster
Preparedness and emergency responding. During times of emergency, it is essential that we have a method for
communicating any situations that significantly affect the lives of those we serve, whether it be temporary or
permanent.
All staff will be trained in Emergency Preparedness upon hire and orientated to the more likely scenarios impacting
his or her respective regional office.
