A guru is one who removes the darkness of ignorance from our lives and leads us to
enlightenment. The relationship between a guru and his disciple is believed to be the most
important part of life. Many people celebrates the day in honour of the great sage ‘Vyasa’, who
was born on this day. This festival is observed as an expression of gratitude towards the teacher by
his/ her disciple.
On 16th July 2019, the staff and students of Vivek Vidyalaya celebrated the auspicious day of
Guru Purnima with great reverence and devotion. This day is celebrated on the Full moon day of

Ashadh month.

To mark the event, there were speeches and songs rendered by the students dedicated to the
teachers. Vice Principal, Mrs. Renuka Deo enlightened the students and made them aware of the
importance of ‘GURU’ in a student’s life. In her words “Gurus always show the right path to the
students. They put their sweat and tears in building our future. We are truly blessed to have such
gurus in our lives. A big thanks to all our Gurus on this special day!”

Iram Khan, a student of Grade VIII gave a speech in English highlighting the role of guru in our
lives- the one who guides and motivates us.

Krishnai Parsekar a student of Grade IX began a speech in Marathi quoting the following lines.

गु� हा सतकळीचा राजा ।
ु
ं
गु� हा प्राणिवसावा माझा ||

The entire event was filled with a lot of positive energy and the students couldn’t thank the
teachers enough for their contribution in the all round development and well being of the students.
