Expectations and Experiences of Students about the Use of
Digital Educational Materials in the Learning and
Teaching Process
Digital educational materials are intended for use for learning and teaching, created in digital
form and stored on a computer, electronic media or published on the Internet. They represent a
combination of traditional learning and teaching methods and modern digital technologies that
encourage active learning in an innovative, effective, motivating and student-friendly way.
They are intended for students to study and (self) evaluate what they have learned and at home,
for independent work. They enable teachers to present teaching materials in an interactive way.
They are interesting and accessible to students and creates additional motivation and interest in
work. Each unit contains multimedia elements in terms of photos, illustrations, video materials,
2D and 3D animations, audiovisual simulations, quizzes, tasks and games, which enable
interaction between students and the content. They are easily available, often free of charge.
They promote modern teaching methods, strategies and approaches, for example problem
solving, research and project teaching, development of critical thinking and active participation
of students in the educational process.

digital educational materials. The research was conducted in 2024 at the Secondary Ante
Kuzmanić Medical School in Zadar. An anonymous questionnaire with 14 questions was used.

before starting to use them, had a positive opinion about it. Students find them useful in learning
previously missed contents, use it to learn about interesting topics, help them to see certain
topics from multiple aspects and encourage them to think more actively about some specific
topics. They believe that materials enables them to get quick feedback on the level of gained
knowledge, and they mention numerous advantages of their use. Materials partially fulfilled
