               Expectations and Experiences of Students about the Use of

               Digital Educational Materials in the Learning and
               Teaching Process



               Digital educational materials are intended for use for learning and teaching, created in digital
               form and stored on a computer, electronic media or published on the Internet. They represent a
               combination of traditional learning and teaching methods and modern digital technologies that
               encourage  active  learning  in  an  innovative,  effective,  motivating  and  student-friendly  way.
               They are intended for students to study and (self) evaluate what they have learned and at home,
               for independent work. They enable teachers to present teaching materials in an interactive way.
               They are interesting and accessible to students and creates additional motivation and interest in
               work. Each unit contains multimedia elements in terms of photos, illustrations, video materials,
               2D  and  3D  animations,  audiovisual  simulations,  quizzes,  tasks  and  games,  which  enable
               interaction between students and the content. They are easily available, often free of charge.
               They  promote  modern  teaching  methods,  strategies  and  approaches,  for  example  problem
               solving, research and project teaching, development of critical thinking and active participation
               of students in the educational process.
               The aim of research is to assess students' expectations and experiences regarding the use of
               digital  educational  materials.  The  research  was  conducted  in  2024  at  the  Secondary Ante
               Kuzmanić Medical School in Zadar. An anonymous questionnaire with 14 questions was used.
               The  first  two  questions  refer  to  the  age  and  gender,  the  remaining  questions  examine  the
               expectations and experiences of students regarding the use of digital educational materials.
               Most of the students encountered the use of digital educational materials earlier during, and
               before starting to use them, had a positive opinion about it. Students find them useful in learning
               previously missed contents, use it to learn about interesting topics, help them to see certain
               topics from multiple aspects and encourage them to think more actively about some specific
               topics. They believe that materials enables them to get quick feedback on the level of gained
               knowledge, and they mention numerous advantages of their use. Materials partially fulfilled
               expectations, and they mention numerous possibilities for their improvement Students showed
               high expectations and positive experiences about the use of digital educational materials in the
               learning and teaching process.
