LASH SHEDDING

How to tell the difference between bad retention and lash shedding?

It is not very difficult to tell the difference. You can recognize that lashes are going
through a transition by the following telltale signs:

Customers come to infills with many more anagen lashes than usual
Customers have fewer telogen lashes than usually
Remaining extensions have grown out more than usual
During infills, some telogen lashes fall off when you touch them with tweezers or
      brush through

It’s important not to confuse it with Blepharitis though, as these two points are also
characteristic of Blepharitis. You can tell the difference by the symptom of Blepharitis
that is not characteristic of the seasonal shed – white/yellowish gunk on the
                                eyelashes’ roots.

Here are a few tips regarding hair shedding:

Send out an email in October/November and March/April to notify your clients
that it is Seasonal shedding time. Explain to them what it is they may experience
                                and that it is normal.

Coach clients who are experiencing a shed to book their regular fill much sooner
                                    than usual.

Typically, you will see an increase in the amount of anagen hairs, so if you will
want to adjust your design and size of lash extensions to make sure to protect
                                   the baby hairs.
