SHEDDING NATURAL LASHES AND EXTENSIONS
Eyelashes are on a constant replenishing cycle. A natural lash with an extension
applied, will shed and this makes way for new lash growth. There are times
when our lash cycle can be more rapid than at other times. It tends to slow
down as we age, but there’s fresh thinking around seasonal shedding, e.g.,
autumn time, where it’s believed that we shed hair that was retained to protect
us from the summer elements. You may notice this with some of your clients.
You should tell your clients to expect their natural lashes to shed. Many do not
know that it is normal. Clients may think that they are losing lashes because
there is a problem with the lash treatment. Not giving enough information can
lead to misinformation and so pre-care, post care should always be provided
and verbally explained. You could even show your clients what a lash extension
looks like once it has shed, so they know what to expect. The natural lash will
protrude from the base of the lash extension that sits closest to the lid line.
SUITABILITY FOR LASH EXTENSIONS
Sometimes it is not possible to offer eyelash
extension treatments to every client. There are also
diseases or disorders that affect the eyes and
eyelashes that is covered in the contra-indications
section in the training manual.
