get me a job for 65K in six months’. He wished me ‘good luck with that’ and I came out
wondering what really happened to me. Was it the anger which exploded because my
own initiative in learning software programming over the years was not recognized?

After a few days, I got into a product development company - Solution 6, as a tester.
In retrospect, I feel David’s response was blessing in disguise because the software
development environment in Solution 6 was state-of-the-art, and I am still trying to find
that kind of environment after so many years in the IT industry. About six months later,
I got a call from a head hunter inquiring about my current job status. I immediately
recognized the voice and asked, “Are you David?” I reminded him about my challenge
that he would send my resume to a 65K job after six months. He was surprised I
remembered our conversation, and said he would send my resume to a client, if I was
still interested. An interview followed in few days, and before I could reach David’s office
after the interview, the client had already called offering me the job. Such is life. David
told me, “You are the only one so far who has challenged me and succeeded.”

After a few job changes in Australia, I moved to USA to work in different domains and
finally ending up working in a Wall Street firm on trading platforms for many years. I
am currently, working in a bank as a software architect of trading systems on client side
managing Global Wealth Investment Management.

I am now looking forward to moving on to the exciting field of Big Data and Machine
learning and AI, and that would be challenging since all industries are incorporating
knowledge-based innovation and optimization of processes to become nimble and
competitive to increase their top and bottom-line revenues.

Dr. Raju Muthu now lives in Monmouth Junction, South Brunswick,

New Jersey with his wife Suneetha and son Aakash.
