184 THE UNCAPTIVE AGENT
about business I’ve ever read. Keith often
destroys conventional wisdom and replaces it
with practical experience. His questions for
thinking time are priceless for any business
owner. Written like a collection of blog posts,
it is easy but provocative reading.
I. Simple Numbers, Straight Talk, Big Profits by
Greg Crabtree is a simple yet powerful and
easily readable book on how to measure the
most important things in your business. This is
critically important for the new business owner
and incredibly useful for the veteran.
J. Start with Why: How Great Leaders Inspire
Everyone to Take Action by Simon Sinek. This is
a book to read and understand before you start
your company or any time after that. It’s an
amazing book full of practical advice.
K. The 4-Hour Work Week by Tim Ferriss. I made
reference earlier in this book to the increasing
ability to use contractors and service provid-
ers, many of whom are Internet-based, to save
money and accelerate the development of your
agency. Tim’s book is a seminal work on how to
do that.
L. Unique Ability 2.0 Discovery by Catherine
Nomura, Julia Waller and Shannon Waller:
These three ladies work for The Strategic
Coach. They take you through the process
of discovering those abilities that are unique
to you, those things that you do best, and
are foundational for the building of your
business.
