Legends often serve as tools to teach cultural, moral,
and social values to the community. For instance, the legend
of Malin Kundang teaches the importance of respecting
parents.

Although based on reality, legends often include
fantastic or supernatural elements, like magical creatures,
gods, or extraordinary events.

Legenda Sangkuriang
Once upon a time, there was a story about a princess in West
Java named Dayang Sumbi. She had a son named Sangkuriang.
He loved to hunt, accompanied by Tumang, the palace's beloved
dog. Sangkuriang didn't know that the dog was a god and also
his father.
