Successes on Community-Level Disaster Readiness
Community Disaster Management Committees (CDMC) in eight communities are the combination of
CDMC diverse age groups, persons with disabilities and households from the minority communities. Following
the policy, committees were formed ensuring the gender balance, inclusion of old-age people and
experienced persons. Training were provided on disaster preparedness, leadership and risk assessments
to the CDMC members. Utilizing indigenous knowledge, real life experiences and learning from trainings
CDMC members are gradually walking towards leading their community.
