LITERATURE REVIEW
Introduction
After The merger of two existing technical institutes in Ireland, Waterford IT and IT Carlow, “The South East
Technological University” was officially announced in November 2021. “The South East Technological University,
Carlow Campus is situated on Kilkenny Road, Carlow. The Carlow Campus has 16 buildings covering approximately
37,500m2, playing pitches and car parking” (“Carlow Campuses ” n.d.).

In recent years, as the size of the SETU, Carlow campus has continued to expand and the number of new students
and visitors has increased, it has become increasingly important to enhance the navigation experience on campus.
New students and visitors often face problems such as information overload and difficult route selection in unfamiliar
environments, resulting in bad experiences.
