“We Are One”
MLK Day of Service

Despite the challenges posed by the winter freeze, EGO’s “We are One” MLK Day of Service saw a heart-
ening display of dedication from dozens of chapter members and inactive sorors at the Huntsville District 6
Office today. Our commitment to community service was evident as five program initiatives unfolded with
passion.
In the “Enhance Our Environment” initiative, we creatively repurposed recycled plastic bags to craft blan-
kets for our homeless communities. The “Empower Our Families—Our Seniors” team continued their sup-
port for Sonnie Hereford Elementary School and Dawson Elementary School, packing over 100 lunches
for students throughout February. Members of the Advocate for Social Justice group distributed voting re-
source materials and contact information for Madison County House District, contributing to the empower-
ment of our community.
Furthermore, the “Uplift Our Local Community” project successfully assembled 100 shower packs for
homeless clients, utilizing ShowerUp’s mobile shower services. The “Strengthening Our Sisterhood” group
exhibited generosity by providing the Uplift Committee with essential toiletries and cleaning supplies for
the benefit of Alabama A&M students.
