• Students will make up work upon their return to school. Exceptions will be
made on a case by case basis.
EARLY DISMISSAL
• In the event of early dismissal, parents will be called using the automated
phone call system. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO MAKE SURE
CURRENT PHONE NUMBERS ARE ON FILE.
• Checkouts after early dismissals are announced are discouraged and may not
be permitted. We will follow our usual protocols.
• Please make sure you watch local TV stations and listen to designated radio
stations for up to date information in addition to phone call system
communications.

SCHOOL DRESS CODE
• HZES will follow the Lawrence County Schools’ Code of Conduct. Parents
should pay close attention to the section on regulations for students in grades
4-12. Each student will receive a copy of the LCS code of conduct which
specifies clothing that cause a disruption to the educational process will not
be permitted.
SCHOOL LUNCH AND BREAKFAST PROGRAM
ALL elementary students will receive free breakfast and free lunch. Breakfast will
be provided as “breakfast in the classroom.” Students will alternate days between
the classroom and cafeteria eating lunch on a purple week/gold week schedule.
FEDERAL MEAL PROGRAM GUIDELINES
• All children must take a milk even though they do not have to drink it
• Take-out food is not allowed in the lunchroom (sandwiches, pizza, biscuits
from local stores and restaurants) and will not be delivered to students.
• No carbonated beverages (cokes, etc) may be carried into the cafeteria
• There are no microwaves located in the cafeteria per state guidelines
