          MAY CHAPTER MEETING

          During the May 13, 2017 Chapter meeting of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Epsilon Gamma Omega
          Chapter, Basileus Soror Wilma Ruffin reflected that “our bonds of friendship and sisterhood are strengthened
          through service, and particularly, as we work together to obtain common goals of our targets, as we answer
                                               the call of the needs within our community”. This was truly evident at
                                               the sorority meeting as members continue to support our international
                                               targets designed to serve our community.

                                               The Educational Enrichment Committee collected backpacks for the
                                               Block Party/Community Day with the Huntsville Police Department
                                                                               th
                                               North  Precinct  held  on  May  20 .  Items  were  also  collected  for  the
                                               Lunches  of  Love  collaboration  effort  for  the  Monrovia  School
                                               Children.

          The    Health    Promotions     Committee
          presented  the  president  of  the  North
          Alabama  National  Alliance  on  Mental
          Illness  with  a  check  for  $500.  The  Health
          Committee  also  collected  money  for  the
          Longest Day Fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s
          Association.

          Members  of  the  Family  Strengthening
          Committee assisted the Rose of Sharon Soup
          Kitchen with the many needs, as they assist the homeless and less fortunate. Chapter members brought in many
          items that are desperately needed which include canned food items, toiletries, socks, tissue and paper towels.

                                 Environmental Ownership Committee members collected
                                 gently used and new shoes for the New Futures Program.
                                 New Futures provides shelter, monetary and educational
                                 support to Huntsville residents in an effort to make self-
                                 sufficiency a reality. All donations were delivered to New
                                 Futures after the meeting.

          EGO also supported the North Alabama Pan Hellenic Council’s community service
          project for Catholic Family Services. It is noteworthy to mention that EGO members collected over 1,000

          diapers and baby wipes. All Greek organizations turned in their items at the annual picnic on May 20 . This
          was an exciting time for EGO as we continue to strive to be of service to all mankind.
