ASCEND Graduation
Helping others achieve
their dreams and goals is
a central component to
Epsilon Gamma Omega's
High School mentoring
program, ASCEND.
EGO had 24 students
graduate from the
program at Alabama A &
M University.
The program began with a
Science Smart Fair.
Students were challenged to conduct a science project, display their project and defend it. Topics ranged from
Cloud Formation, Optical Illusions, Benefits of Insulin among Diabetic Patients to the Canine Comprehension.
Next, EGO members Mildred
Blackshear, Karen Turnage,
Dawn Stanley, Eugena Goggans
and Dr. Ebonee Walker, along
with ASCEND students, gave an
overview of the program. The
program covers Career
Exploration, College
Enrichment, STEM, Community
Service, World Affairs and
much, much more.
Entertainment was provided by ASCEND students. The program concluded with a graduation recognition
ceremony conducted by Basileus, Dr. Wilma Ruffin, Anti-Basileus, Dr. Cheryl R. Davis, and ASCEND
Chairman, Dawn Stanley.
The fourth cycle of the one year ASCEND program will begin in September. See the rest of the ASCEND
