Target II Celebrates Successful Pink Goes Red 2018
The Target II Community Impact Day for Pink Goes Red in support of the Go Red for Women campaign for the
American Heart Association on February 2, 2018 was fabulous! The early morning events began at Crestwood
Hospital where sorors gathered to donate healthy snack bars and bottled water to the Cardiac Unit waiting area for
the loved ones of hospitalized patients. We were warmly greeted by Ms. Carra Leggett and staff members who
joined us for group pictures.
The day’s events culminated at First Missionary Baptist Church with a panel consisting of Internist, Soror Vivian
Aboko-Cole Hicks and Cardiologist, Dr. Quinton Foster. A scrumptious healthy meal and Zumba fitness followed
the panel discussion. Moderator, Soror Erica Washington, DJ at WJAB 90.9 at AAMU was very adept in guiding
the discussion and getting participation from the audience. The take away was repeated numerous times by Soror
Aboko-Cole Hicks, which was “STAY AWAY FROM THE DRIVE THROUGH!” She encouraged us to cook and
eat healthy—lean protein and lots of green leafy vegetables.
Our generous partners who supplied the meal were Mr. Paul Bracy of Club Forty7, Olive Garden, Costco and
Newk’s. Target II Committee members, EGO’s ASCEND students, Omicron Zeta Sorors and our General Member
from AAMU were instrumental in helping to make the event special and successful. It was an extremely beneficial
program for all.
