National Alliance on Mental Illness Community Impact Day
Epsilon Gamma Omega Chapter collaborated with The Na-
tional Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) to present a spec-
tacular, well-attended forum on mental health awareness at
the Alabama A&M University Student Health and Wellness
Center. The purpose of the forum was to enlighten the com-
munity about mental health and to share information about
local resources for those needing assistance.
The interactive forum consisted of a panel of four individu-
als from WellStone Behavioral Health, Crisis Services of
North Alabama and 211, the second Vice President of the
local NAMI office and a Community Relations Officer from
the North Precinct of the Huntsville Police Department. Topics included examples of emotional, psychological and
mental health disorders, possible mental disorder symptoms, solutions and where to seek assistance in Huntsville/
Madison County. The panel and audience were very engaging, which resulted in an exhilarating discussion.
The afternoon culminated with light-hearted line dancing, lunch and outstanding evaluations. Many guests stated
the forum was very informative and generated great questions/answers.
