EGO's Mentoring Moment

Soror Wilma Ruffin, Basileus, includes a Mentoring Moment on the agenda at the joint Chapter meetings to show
EGO’s commitment to our Mentor-Mentee Connection, “Nurturing Our Ivy” Mentoring Program.

Our meeting on November 30, 2017, included the membership committee's 2nd
presentation of the EPSILON GAMMA OMEGA MENTOR-MENTEE
CONNECTION OF THE YEAR: SOROR BRIDGETT STRONG (EGO) and
SOROR RAVEN MOORE (OZ)

There was a tie for 1st runner up:
Soror Gloria Hemphill (EGO) and Soror Jasmine Miller (OZ)
Soror Veronica Belser (EGO) and Soror Aquila Magee (OZ)

Each soror was presented a beautiful certificate, gift card and a smiley face card
- thanking them for their unwavering commitment as a participating mentor/
mentee.

The criteria for this sisterly competition included the submission of snippets and snapshots showcasing mentoring
events, and feedback from the undergraduate Sorors based on the criteria from the Alpha Kappa Alpha Mentoring
guide.

Soror Dawn Batts, OZ's graduate advisor, was instrumental in assessing the feedback and recommending the men-
toring connections. These sorors, inclusive of our Mentee-Mentor honorees, received a beautiful certificate and a
smiley face thank you card.

The membership committee has proactively embraced the Supreme Basileus’ statement: the critical link between
initiation and lifelong active membership is mentoring. In capturing this prolific vision, Sorors Betty Ridgeway and
Eshanta Calhoun as well as Sorors Dana Waller, Renee Knight (EGO) and Veronica Belser (EGO) were recog-
nized. These were Mentor-Mentee connections as grad to undergrad sorors who “graduated to grad to grad mentee
