On January 15, Epsilon Gamma Omega celebrated 2021 Reactivation Day and our 113th
Founders’ Day virtually. Since we were not able to celebrate homecoming for our colleges in
2020, the Membership Committee selected the Homecoming theme and activities to reconnect
us those experiences. More than 130 Sorors attended this fun event marked by Bingo,
Tailgating Contest, College Décor Contest, Songs and an entertaining Half Time Show!
Remembering college days were a key part of the festivities. We kicked off the event with a
”College Days: Then and Now” Slide Show, depicting pictures of chapter officers, Membership
Committee members and registered Missing Pearls during college and now. Clips from Steps
Shows from the 1980s and 1990s were shown to bring back those exciting memories of
representing the First and the Finest! Homecoming would not be complete without an exciting
Half Time Show. The Eric Essix Trio performed popular music with a jazz flavor as we danced
in our homes.
Sorors Joyce Martin, Anita Garner and Cynthia Massey shared popular sorority songs
often performed during our college days. They shared inspiring memories of these songs and
how they reminded them of their commitment to our sorority! Soror Mildred Blackshear led us
in College Days Movie and Television Trivia Game with prizes. Soror Deanna Robinson won our
Tailgate Contest with a tasty array of snacks. Missing Pearl Soror Sybil Moore (who
reactivated!) won the College Décor Contest representing Alabama A&M University!
Nearly thirty Missing Pearls were welcomed and introduced. Soror Dawn Stanley,
Membership Chairman, provided an overview of the chapter, highlighting key programming,
membership committee activities, awards and chapter demographics as means for Missing
Pearls to know the basics about the chapter and aid their decision in reactivating. In addition,
Soror Gloria Hemphill, Pecunious Grammateus, provided reactivation process and fees. We are
proud to say thirty-four sorors have reactivated thus far in 2021!
