                                       Columbia High School Session

On September 25, 2015, countries of the United Nations adopted a set of
goals to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all as
part of a new sustainable development agenda. There were 17 goals
identified. Each goal has specific targets to be achieved by 2030. During the
session at Columbia High School on Monday, March 6, 2017, Target V
member, Soror Mitchelene Betts gave a compelling talk regarding the 17
sustainable goals. Soror Betts caught the
attention of the students by stating that “one
in five people in developing regions still live
on less than $1.25 a day”. It was clear that
the students had a hard time visualizing
surviving on $1.25 per day. She further
highlighted the first four goals of: No
Poverty, Zero Hunger, Good Health and
          Well-Being, and Quality Education.

Soror Lorraine Lacy kept the students engaged with a very timely and relevant
presentation on Cybersecurity and Social Media. The presentation began with
a brief analysis of the Preamble of the Constitution of the United States of
America. Soror Lacy explained how something that was written so many years
ago is still relevant today even when discussing Cybersecurity and Social
