Earth Day Festival

On Saturday, April 22, 2017 the
Environmental Ownership Committee
of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
EGO Chapter joined forces with
members of Rho Chi Omega Chapter
and Huntsville’s Green Team to greet
attendees of the 2017 Earth Day
celebration held at Hays Nature
Preserve on the banks of the Flint
River.

From 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Alpha
Kappa Alpha Sorority members
greeted attendees and provided them
all natural lip balms, reusable bags for
car drivers to prevent litter, and “litter
report pads”. AKA members
explained that if anyone spotted a
litterer, they could use the pad to
provide information to the “Litter
Hotline” and recipients would receive
a letter from Operation Green Team on the importance of keeping Huntsville beautiful.

Operation GreenTeam’s Earth Day Celebration was a free
family event
aimed to provide
activities and
information that
celebrates
mother Earth and
the many way
communities
around the globe
work together for
a cleaner and more sustainable future.
