THE EGO Ivy Informer
In our January chapter meeting I shared the “Basileus Vision,” three guiding principles we will use in
2015 to ignite excitement, renew commitments and inspire a spirit for showcasing the “New
Dimensions of Service.”
The Basileus Vision:
To align the operational procedures within Epsilon Gamma Omega Chapter with our documents while
fostering an environment of learning. Bring the Soror Code of Ethics to life by illustrating actions
that strengthen the bonds that unite each Soror. Resulting in extraordinary visibility in the community
as we provide “Service to All Mankind.”
Functioning in the spirit of this vision, as we embark upon our journey of “Launching New
Dimensions of Service,” I launched my journey of leadership with a leadership and planning session
for the Executive Committee and Chairman of the Technology Committee. The second phase of that
launch is to provide a portion of that information for the entire chapter. This will be accomplished
immediately after our February chapter meeting February 14, 2015. Soror Angela Jenkins, immediate
past South Eastern Region Parliamentarian, will present a session on parliamentary procedures and
duties of officers which will encompass and clarify many chapter operations, per our documents. This
is a phase to align the operational procedures within Epsilon Gamma Omega Chapter with our
documents while fostering an environment of learning. Please, make this an “AKA” Day and remain
after the chapter meeting for about an hour. Thank You!
For me, a key word in our International theme is “New.” New can sometimes denote change or is
perceived to indicate change. As we “Launch New Dimensions of Service,” I believe we are excited
and energized to work and serve. However, as we focus on “New” in other segments of our great
sisterhood, let us remain just as excited and energized. As I think of “new” parallel with “change” it
can sometimes become challenging if “new” is perceived to be change. In my church leadership
retreat, I learned people don’t mind change, but what they don’t like is the loss associated with change.
I am asking each soror to embrace the “New Dimensions” we are launching in Epsilon Gamma Omega.
Sorors, again I say thank you for your vote of confidence to elect me as your Basileus. As we celebrate
daily the legacy, sisterhood, and service mission of our beloved Sorority, I remain humble and honored
to serve.
Sisterly,
Soror Wilma J. Ruffin
