TARGET III: FAMILY STRENGTHENING

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority’s Family Strengthening Program will target critical issues in many of today’s
families including lack of food, shelter and financial means. Led by Sorors Leteria-Moses Waters, Sharon
Gresham and Yoneka Pride, EGO’s Target III is off to a great start!
During the month of October in 2014, Target III’s “Eat
Well to Stay Well” event allowed them to serve 133
youth at the Boys & Girls Club. The children were very
excited to receive healthy foods, such as fruits,
applesauce, granola bars, nuts, and healthy shakes. Also,
over $200 was collected in support of this event.
At the close of October, Target III partnered with Sorors Kimberly Edwards, Leteria Moses-Waters,
AAMU’s University Echoes for the annual “Trunk or Sharon Gresham preparing to hand out HEALHTY
Treat.” Children from all over the city were able to come
with empty bags and leave with bags full of candy and a SNACKS!

and children, were in attendance.
In November, Target III continued to “Launch New
Dimensions of Service” by hosting a canned goods
collection drive. EGO Sorors donated 131 canned goods
to the non-profit organization, Christmas Charities Year
Round. As Target III says, “Nourished and well-fed
families make STRONG FAMILIES!”
