Sisterhood Committee of Alpha Kappa Alpha So-
rority, Incorporated, Epsilon Gamma Omega

"AKA Day of Service"' We Are One, by donating
baskets of toiletries to the Harris Home for children. The leads,
along with Basileus Tonya Wood, of EGO, delivered 23 baskets
containing much needed personal items to the young men. The
Leads, Rekena Davis, Angela Warner, Paula Cannon-Whiteside,
and Valerie Williams are to be commended as they used $500 of
their personal funds to help support this community project. Also,
a special thanks to Tonya Wood and LaToya McComb for their

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. once said, “Use me, God. Show me how to take who I am, who I want
to be, and what I can do, and use it for a purpose greater than myself.” As we celebrated the life and legacy
of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on January 16th, Epsilon Gamma Omega embarked on a journey that would
benefit many people. We partnered with Omicron Zeta, Gamma Mu, family members, and Jack and Jill in
“Recovering Our Roots”, a genealogy project for Billion Graves. Billion Graves is the world’s largest re-
source for searchable GPS cemetery data. Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church’s Cemetery was one of
several cemeteries in Madison County Alabama identified on Billion Graves’ list. Soror Lorraine Lacy or-
ganized nearly 48 volunteers as they gathered on the grounds of Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church in
Harvest to photograph headstones of 300+ gravesites.
