The EGO Technology Tutor: Quick Response (QR) Codes

QR CODE DEFINITION: QR is short
for Quick Response because they can
be read quickly by a cell phone (or
other smart device). QR codes are
two-dimensional barcodes used to take
a piece of information and put it in to
your cell phone. You see QR codes in
magazine ads, on a billboard, a web
page and even our 82nd South Eastern
Regional Conference t-shirts. Once
you scan a QR code, it is stored in your
cell phone and gives you details about
the organization, business, etc. that
created the code.
They are more useful than a standard
barcode because they can store (and
digitally present) much more data,
including web links, geo coordinates,
and text.
A NOTE ABOUT THE EGO QR CODES. Sorors, with 310+ chapter members in Epsilon Gamma Omega (EGO),
you will no doubt need to make contact with another Soror at some point in time. Or you may need to get quick
access to the website. Make things easy on yourself and keep a copy of the EGO Chapter Directory and the
website link at your fingertips on your cell phone.
Simply tap your preferred QR Reader app to activate the scanner, align each QR code in the crosshairs and open
the link. The QR code can be scanned directly from the computer screen or from a printout. Different apps may
require slightly different steps but they all work in pretty much the same way. If you don’t have an app, you can
download one for your Apple device from the App Store or download one for your Android from Google Play.

By scanning these codes, you will have access to the latest updates on the website and changes to the chapter
directory without having to search for the links in your previous emails. To access the links after closing your
scanner app, tap your scanner app and then tap the stored link for either the website or EGO Chapter Directory.
