58th Debutante Presentation & Ball

The 58th Debutante Presentation and Ball season is underway! The purpose of
this signature event is to enrich the cultural development of outstanding young
ladies in Huntsville and surrounding areas. This year’s Debutante season is led
by Sorors Carolyn Simpson, Denine Mathews, Dorothy Mathews and Annie
Savage with the theme, "Poised Portraits of Perfection”. Sunday, November
1, 2015 on the campus of Alabama A&M University in the James I. Dawson Building, the Debutante
Season began with an orientation session. This is the first year for the session to be a part of the
Debutante activities. The orientation session was created after the Debutante Ad Hoc Committee
reviewed the results of a survey submitted by former Debutantes and their parents in order for future
participants to have a better understanding of activities and guidelines. During the session, each
Debutante Ball Committee Chairman gave an in depth description of their event which involved
questions from the floor.
On Sunday, November 8, 2015, “A Silhouette of
Royalty” Get Acquainted Tea allowed the
Prospective Debutantes, parents, sponsors and
Epsilon Gamma Omega Chapter members to do just
that, get acquainted. The Get Acquainted Tea
Committee, led by Sorors Dana Battle, Courtney
Battle and Felicia Wilson, planned an eventful
afternoon. A highlight of the tea was the “Name That
Tune” icebreaker in which teams of Prospective
Debutantes and their parents’ knowledge of music
was put to the test. It was
definitely an afternoon of
fun!
