Breast Cancer Awareness Events

The 5th Annual Celebration for Breast

Cancer Survivors in memory of Ms. Kimberly

Fails Jones, was held October 9, 2015 at 7pm at

the Huntsville Marriott, 5 Tranquility Base,

Huntsville, AL. In honor of Ms. Fails Jones, her

family established a memorial foundation and Sorors Natalie Steele, Michelle Gary-Hunt
website with a mission to provide assistance to and Renee Knight at the Breast Cancer
persons seeking medical care for breast cancer and who show a Survivors Celebration

demonstrated financial need. In support of this foundation, members of Target II were afforded the

opportunity, by our Basileus Soror Wilma Ruffin, to attend the dinner along with several cancer

survivors of Epsilon Gamma Omega. Cancer survivors in attendance were Soror Natalie Steele,

Soror Michelle Gary-Hunt and Soror Renee Knight. It was a beautiful celebration of life and the event

was well attended. The guest speaker, Ms. Karen Allen, presented a video of the different stages she
experienced while dealing with a diagnosis of cancer. She also wrote a book “Confronting Cancer

with Faith.”

Breast Cancer continues to invade our communities attacking women of all ages and some men.

Target II also had the opportunity to participate in a Breast Cancer Walk sponsored by the Wellness

Department of Fox Army Health Center, Redstone Arsenal, AL, on October 16, 2015 at 12 noon. The

yearly event is a mid-day walk to allow staff participation and to remind individuals of the prevalence

of Breast Cancer. Committee Members attending the event were Soror Karen Harris and Soror

Truelove Sandifer.
