METALWORKING EQUIPMENT AND TOOLS
Industrial testing of the proposed TIG welding method using flux-cored tape was carried out
at the Feodosia production association "Sea" during TIG welding of hull structures of gas turbine
ships on hydrofoils "Voskhod" and "Cyclone" in 1990 - 1991. The TIG welding technology of
aluminum products from the AMg61 alloy was carried out under the supervision of the Register of
the Crimean Inspectorate in accordance with the norms [1] adopted for shipbuilding enterprises
of the former Soviet Union. Testing was carried out on welded products with a thickness of 4 and
6 mm with the preparation of the welded edges according to the scheme presented in Table 5.
Welding without flux tape was performed in two passes from both sides, and with flux tape - only
in one pass. After welding, the samples were subjected to X-ray transmission, visual inspection,
and mechanical tests. Testing the method under industrial conditions has confirmed the positive
effect of flux tape on the quality and formation of welded joints. The mechanical properties of
welded joints are given in Table 6. It can be seen from the table that, despite the performance
of welding using various technologies, the mechanical characteristics of the joints do not differ
significantly. Industrial testing of a new method for TIG welding of hull structures of gas turbine
hydrofoils at FPO "Sea" has confirmed the possibility of its use in industry. However, at the end
