The obtained results of mechanical tests of welded joints of the AMg6 alloy obtained
by TIG welding using a conventional tape backing and flux tape are presented in Table 4. In
accordance with the results obtained, the joints made by welding with a flux tape without
cutting the welded edges have higher strength properties (see table 4, no. 2 and no. 6). This
effect, apparently, can be explained, firstly, by the effective removal of oxide inclusions and
pores with a flux tape and, secondly, by a small fraction of the participation of the filler metal in
the weld.
