Fun Fact

                                                           The shortest Will ever

                                                       probated was the Will of

Probate refers to the process of administering someone’s estate after
they have passed away. Probate is only needed to pass ownership of an
asset that is owned solely in the deceased person’s name.

All types of probate involve a court proceeding and a judge will oversee
various aspects of the estate administration. These include: the
appointment of a personal representative (sometimes called an
"executor"), the payment of the decedent’s creditors, and the ultimate

transfer of the decedent’s assets to his or her beneficiaries.

Depending on the type of probate and the complexity of the estate
administration the probate process can take from mere months to a
       year or longer.

used to build "an establishment for the increase
and diffusion of knowledge." That "establishment"
is now known as the Smithsonian Institution.
