                                                         Abstract:
The phenomenon of "fatherless" and "motherless" refers to the absence of
a father or mother figure in a child's life, which can have a significant impact
on their psychological and social development. This study aims to examine
adolescents' perceptions of this phenomenon in MTsN 6 East Jakarta,
using qualitative methods and purposive sampling techniques. Data were
collected through in-depth interviews with 85 respondents aged 14-16
years. The results showed that 85.88% (73 out of 85) respondents knew
the concepts of "fatherless" and "motherless", while 14.12% (12 out of 85)
did not. A total of 98.8% (83 out of 85) respondents acknowledged that the
role of mothers is very important in children's emotional and social
development, and 95.2% (80 out of 85) agreed that father's involvement is
also important in the formation of children's character. The main factor that
causes this phenomenon is the busyness of parents, with 36.48% (31 out
of 85) respondents feeling "fatherless" because their father is busy
working, while 32.94% (28 out of 85) feel "motherless" due to parental
divorce. Good communication between parents and children is found to be
important, with 98.8% (83 out of 85) respondents agreeing that effective
communication supports intelligent and balanced child development. In
conclusion, the involvement of both parents is crucial in children's
development, especially in emotional, social, and cognitive aspects.
