2 – What do you hope to leave as your legacy at DDS?
I’d like to be remembered as a team player and as someone who delivered on things.
3 – What does your role as Legislative Liaison involve?
A little bit of everything, but primarily making sure that everything runs as smoothly as
possible for DDS legislatively.
My whirlwind activities include responding to questions and requests from the Governor’s
office, legislators, and other state agencies. I assist each year with the agency’s legislative
agenda, attend committee hearings during the legislative session, and keep close tabs on bills
that may have an impact on our operations.
4 – Tell us a little bit about your family (children, siblings, etc.).
My wife Christy and I have been married for almost 20 years and we’re the proud parents of
a precious four-year-old daughter named Christa. I have a younger brother and a younger
sister, both of whom are married and have children. My wife and I are Athens natives, we
both graduated from the University of Georgia, and currently reside in Oconee County.
5 –Where do you go on family vacation to get away from work and relax?
Vacations that involve travel and overnight stays are challenging with a preschooler, so right
now we typically do day trips to places like the Atlanta Aquarium, Washington Farms, etc. We
would, however, like to take a family vacation to Disney World in the next couple of years.
6 – What is something interesting about you that most folks would not know?
I don’t think most people know that when I joined DDS in 2005, I was allowed to maintain my
peace officer certification through OIS as a sworn investigator. Although I haven’t
investigated a criminal case in years, I do get to train with our investigators, I have arrest
powers, and I get to carry a sidearm.
7 - What two words best describe you?
Focused and results-oriented.
8 – What hobbies do you enjoy away from the office?
Most folks who know me personally know that I love cycling.
