TSA and DDS Discuss REAL ID
Requirements
There was no way that the state with the busiest airport in the world was
not going to be REAL ID compliant!
TSA invited media to Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport on
September 18th to highlight the REAL ID-compliant driver’s license.
Commissioner Spencer R. Moore and Director of Governmental Affairs and
Communications, Shevondah Leslie, attended the press conference to
discuss the REAL ID requirements.
Georgia has been REAL ID compliant since 2012. Although the state has
always had a secure licensing system, the goal is to become even more
secure by introducing the REAL ID.
“We see it as an option to have secure drivers and secure identities, and
that’s what we wanted to do,” said Commissioner Moore.
More than 96 percent of Georgia residents already have a Compliant ID.
DDS is reaching out to cardholders who still have non-complaint/non-REAL
ID cards directly and expanding public communication.
Events such as this press conference are important to be sure everyone
is aware of the ramifications of not having a REAL ID which will be
mandatory for air travel on October 1, 2020.
TSA has begun to remind travelers about the REAL ID requirement and
