The Rockdale County Public Relations Department held a human trafficking forum
End It: A Forum Against Human Trafficking” on January 11, 2023, a day recognized as
National Human Trafficking Awareness Day. The CDL Human Trafficking Coordinator,
Kayla Peeples, was one of five invited panelists to speak on their background in
human trafficking and share their expertise. Kayla provided insight from a
transportation to how human trafficking intersects with the commercial motor
vehicles.

Panel speakers at the forum included Dr. Nicole Haig from Northside Hospital; DeBaja
Coleman from the Department of Juvenile Justice; Kayla Peeples from DDS
Commercial Transportation; and Judge Maureen Wood from Rockdale County
Juvenile Court.

Kayla highlighted how the DDS CDL Human Trafficking Education and Outreach
Program provides training to the trucking community and what signs trucks drivers
should recognize as suspected signs of human trafficking.
