Technological
methods for burning
and cutting of thick
metal billets
The thermal cutting process
involves the separation of billets
not with a cutting tool, but with a
local source of high temperature. In
the case of plasma cutting, the heat
sources are the electric arc and the
gas plasma ionized by this arc. The
electric arc closes on the surface of
the work piece and melts the metal,
the gas passing through the nozzle
blows the molten metal out of the
cut cavity, thus the parts of the work piece are separated from each other and the side wall of
the work piece is formed.
