40 The Unforgettable Moments in Life
Evil Dolls
By Canela Chagoya
I remember hearing a lot of construction next to my house. I lived behind a highway, so I
could hear all the cars. I sipped Kool Aid from my plastic, weird lid-shaped bottle while eating
my flat crisp, sweet Graham cracker. I was 9, and I live with my parents and my two older
brothers.
Since I was the only girl in the house except for my mom, I would just imagine that I
lived in a doll house. It was big and had stairs, but it was so plain and boring. Usually, I would
decorate the doll house with some colorful paper. I would go away from my parents because I
pretended they were evil dolls. When my parents (the evil dolls) would get near me, I would
always run to the couch and get my pretend sword. I didn’t count my brothers in my doll house
because I didn’t like them and they were annoying.
I would walk around my doll house as the
main character, with my nice pink shirt and dark
blue jeans. My parents would call me, but I would
ignore them because they were invisible in this
reality. When my brothers would pick on me, I
would slap them, and they’d go cry to my evil
parents. They would usually get me in trouble, but I
wouldn’t care. Like I said, I was the main
character. I wouldn't let anything come toward me or bother me while I was in my doll house.
