7 STEPS TO START YOUR GREEN BUSINESS | 21
Always remember that the problem is only worth solving if it
solves many people's problems, and customers can pay to
solve it.
4. Target a customer
A customer is a person that pays for your product and a
recipient of your goods or services. It would help if you build a
buyer's persona that will buy your product; develop a simple
template that enables you to determine this buyer. Insert simple
information to describe the buyer of your product better.
Do not target a broad audience or population; maintain a
sample frame. For example, if you are creating organic skin
products that target infants between the ages of 1-5, your target
audience should be a mom. Further information about your
persona, her age, work-life, location, lifestyle, and others will
help you carve an accurate sample size of an entire population.
A good customer definition is required to know who will buy
your product.
5. Design One product
Golden Rule 3 states that “Lack of Focus kills startups." I have
heard several times from different people that they created
products that will solve various problems at various places; this
is a terrible start for any business. As a green entrepreneur, your
focus should be on one product at a time; this will help you
target a defined buyer.
