SOCIAL MEDIA D A T A MINING ANAL Y SIS
When analysing the reaction to social media content relating to SBS, an overall feeling of positivity to change
and encouragement of the implementation of strategies to force improvement and change. Predictably, there
was a bit of conflict when analysing LinkedIn, this is expected as the industry has presented itself to be quite re-
luctant to change, especially when it comes to potential loss of revenue and work, which will be a result of mass
change to minimum code requirements. There was a feeling of sarcasm and underhanded contempt towards
the standards at present and the excuses given for design flaws and failures. In contrast, the consumers feeling
was of overwhelming positivity towards change, combined with a sense of helplessness in not knowing exactly
how to make changes and prevent SBS related illnesses. After reading through these posts on Facebook and
LinkedIn, it supported previous evidence that SBS is an issue which effects a vast number of people and demo-
graphics.
When we analyse this data in relation to the overall theme, it presents an overwhelming view that changes to
code minimum and design practice withing Australia would be a welcomed legislation within the consumer
market. Whilst in contrast, changes to the building code may leave numerous businesses needing to adapt in
a short space of time. This evidence suggests to implement change at scale, it will need to be a gradual educa-
tion and implementation process over many years.
