Athletic Conferences





     Benton County Athletic Conference


             The Benton County Athletic Conference was formed in 1932 by teams from Benton County. The conference
     will operate through the 1956-57 school year, when all schools will either join the Midwest, Prairie, or the Western
     Indiana Small School conferences.  The member schools will also  take part in the Benton County Tournament
     through the 1965-66 season.  The Benton County Tournament was hosted by Fowler.
     Benton County Athletic Conference Timeline
     1932: The Benton County Athletic Conference is formed.
                     Membership: Ambia, Boswell, Earl Park, Fowler, Freeland Park, Gilboa Twp.,   Otterbein, Oxford,
                                           Pine Twp., Raub, Wadena
     1955: Ambia, Boswell, Otterbein, & Oxford leave the BCAC to join the Prairie Conference.  Fowler leaves the BCAC
               for the Midwest Conference.
     1957: The BCAC disbands, as Earl Park, Freeland Park, Gilboa Twp., Pine Twp., Raub, & Wadena   join the Western
               Indiana Small School Conference.



     Big Four Conference


             The Big Four was formed in 1954 by schools in Boone, Hendricks, Montgomery, & Putnam   counties.
     Big Four Conference Timeline
     1954: The Big Four Conference is formed.
                     Membership: Bainbridge, Belle Union, Granville Wells, Ladoga, New Market,   North Salem,
                                           Pittsboro, Roachdale, Russellville
     1957: Dover joins the Big Four.
     1964: Fillmore, Reelsville, & Waveland are admitted to the Big Four.  Dover closes & consolidates  into Granville
                Wells.  Ladoga withdrawals from the Big Four to join the WRC.
     1965: Belle Union closes & consolidates into Fillmore.
     1966: Alamo, Darlington, Linden, New Ross, & Waynetown join the Big Four.
     1967: Alamo is closes & is absorbed into New Market.  New Market withdrawals from the Big Four to join the WRC.
     1969: Bainbridge, Roachdale, & Russellville consolidate to form North Putnam.  Fillmore &   Reelsville consolidate to
               form South Putnam.
     1971: Darlington, Linden, & Waynetown consolidate into North Montgomery.  New Ross & Waveland consolidate
               into Southmont.  Granville Wells, North Salem, & Pittsboro withdrawal  from the Big Four to join the Little
               Four Conference.  The Big Four Conference disbands after  the 1970-71 school year.
