White County Athletic Conference
The White County Athletic Conference was formed in 1908 by teams from White County. The conference
will operate through the 1962-63 school year. The White County Tournament will operate annually through 2013.
The county tournament will be played at the Staggs Gym in Monticello through the 1962-63 school year. After the
1960s the tournament host will rotate largely between Monon & Brookston until consolidation, then Frontier, North
White, & Tri-County will rotate hosting responsibilities.

a. Host sites for the annual White County Tournament varied throughout the course of the tournament.
Monticello’s Staggs Gymnasium was a primary host, but Monon & Brookston also regularly hosted the
tournament through the late 1970s. From the early 1990s-2013 the tourney will rotate between the
participating schools as host sites.
b. The 1964-74 the tournament will become known as the “White County Invitational.” This is primarily due to
school consolidation & the fact that schools outside of White County participated. From 1975-2013 the name
will revert back to the “White County Tournament,” even though Delphi is a participant from 1991-2013.
White County Athletic Conference Timeline
1908: The White County Athletic Conference is formed.
Membership: Brookston, Buffalo, Burnettsville, Chalmers, Idaville, Monon, Monticello, Reynolds,
Round Grove, Wolcott
1933: Monon leaves the WCC to join the Kankakee Valley Conference.
1954: Round Grove consolidates into the existing Wolcott H.S.
1955: Brookston & Wolcott leave the WCC to join the Midwest Conference.
1957: Chalmers drops out of the WCC to join the Western Indiana Small School Conference.
1961: Adams Twp. joins the WCC.
1963: Adams Twp., Burnettsville, Idaville, & Monticello consolidate to form Twin Lakes. Buffalo, Monon, &
Reynolds consolidate to form North White.
