A Shot

It was a normal Thursday morning and I woke up as usual for

school. The same routine as always, brush teeth, get

dressed, do hair, get a bag, and head downstairs. Breakfast
was the usual yogurt bowl and I headed out the door at

around 8. I walked up to the bus and waited 2 minutes

before I sat on the bus. It is about a 15-minute drive to
school so I enjoy the scenery and fog as it is the middle of

winter. Although sometimes this feels lonely, it can be the

only time before I become overwhelmed by the thought of

      school.

I arrive at 8:28 am and head to my classroom. I sit down

and wait until the lesson starts. I stare out the window and

watch the damp trees rustle and a shiver sends up my spine
as there are no heaters in the classroom. The lesson goes on

as normal and I zone out eventually and I realize that the

      class has already ended.

My day goes on normally and after 4 periods of non-stop

classes the bell rings and I can go for lunch. The meals go
by schedule so the same food as usual. During the lunch

break, the same meaningless banter between friends keeps

me giggling. The bell rings and signals that the break is over

and disappointment nudges me. I head back to class and
      the schedule continues.

It is the middle of Math class and I stare at the clock

aimlessly when suddenly I hear a bang. The whole class
turned their heads but continued like nothing happened

assuming that it was just some big equipment that fell over.

This very moment is when this very normal day turned into
the most traumatizing day of my life.
