Beyond the Scenes

I. Idea Generation

Mathematics is usually associated with solutions and formulas. This is
why people regard it as hard and intellectual. However, this is not always the

case, as mathematics could also be a way to appreciate life, the arts, and how

they work. With this being said, the group thought of a project that could help
recognize the role of mathematics in one of the things that bring people

together: movies.
Movies and mathematics are a great combination. Unknowingly, there

are movies that apply mathematics in order for the plot to progress. At first,
the group plans to use their favorite movies and analyze the mathematics

behind them through Polya’s heuristics. However, a group member suggested

that, for them to have a central theme, they should utilize movies that discuss
social issues, which is why the films The Hunger Games, The Hunt, Parasite,

and Don’t Look Up were reviewed. Once the analyses are completed, they will

be placed in a virtual newspaper.

II. Tasking
In order to finish the tasks on time, the group has conducted short

meetings through messages in the online platform, Messenger, and delegated
the tasks through a poll on the said platform. The tasks were divided into
