SPOTLIGHT…
Dr. Vicki Trotter, GP at Brampton Medical Practice
in North Cumbria, first qualified as a GP in 2016.
Throughout her career, she has gained extensive
experience working in multiple dispensing practices
during both training and post-qualification phases.
Currently, she serves as the dispensing lead GP at
Brampton Medical Practice, a rural facility dispensing
medication to approximately 71% of its nearly 17,000
patients. The practice operates out of three different
locations across North Cumbria.
Transition to PSUK
In the spring of 2024, Brampton Medical Practice transitioned to working with
PSUK. This decision was influenced by Dr. Trotters’ prior positive experiences
with the company at another practice.
“I found that using multiple wholesalers
and suppliers was challenging with
multiple deliveries, so I decided moving
to one mainline wholesaler could have
benefits and was worth trying.”
Optimising procurement and increasing profitability
PSUK’s extensive market knowledge has proven invaluable in improving
procurement processes and enhancing profitability at Brampton Medical
Practice. Dr. Trotter frequently reviews the Profitability and Dispensing Guide
available on the PSUK website and regularly analyses boost tables provided by
Glenn Cullen, their PSUK Account Manager. “These resources have helped our
surgery write our first surgery formulary,” she highlighted. Additionally, Glenn’s
expertise in MDS schemes has been beneficial in reviewing and optimising
deals with suppliers like AstraZeneca and Cheisi, allowing the practice to
identify and capitalise on missed opportunities.
“Glenn’s knowledge of the MDS schemes
has been helpful; he has shown our
surgery potential missed opportunities.”
